Betül AÅŸlı Bayram

A person born into the heart of the Çini art, in the city of Kutahya, I graduated from Dumplupınar University in Ceramics. As my passion grew fonder of Çini throughout my studies, I learned the fundamentals of this art from the most valuable Çini artist and expert Dr. Faruk Kahraman Åžahin. Prior to and after graduation, I continued my pursuit of mastering the art of Çini, and continued working in various such galleries, as well as work for as a graphic designer for Kütahya Porselen, Turkey’s most renowned Çini goods company. I am furthermore a member of the UNESCO accredited Kütahya Culture and Art foundation, and I am an accredited Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism tile artist. In order to teach about our thousands-year old ancient art, I organize workshops and courses abroad.

The art of Çini is a form of art that requires effort and patience. The desired results are only seen after several processes. What is important in this form of art, as much as patience, is to express your emotions and your imagination onto the canvas. Passion is at the very root of this special art form. It is important to give this art form the respect that it deserves, as it is built upon thousands of years of history and cultural ties, strengthening our bond to the past. That is why, this art form is protected by UNESCO, and still holds dear to Turkish cultural expression. I hope to expand this form of art to the best of my abilities abroad, and give anyone who is interested a taste of the beauties that Çini has to offer.
